Question 5: How did you attract/address your audience?
We used Lionsgate because they are a well known for working on independant films
Our production logo was made using photoshop and it allows the audience to make assumptions on what our film we be like and what to expect
The score is very sombre and dark it adds to the tension of the opening sequence , as you can see the sequence has very low key lighting this again emphasizes the dark tone of our film and tells you its genre
Many films of our chosen genre incorporate the use of low key lighting in order to establish the scene and build the atmosphere
Our film switches between the darkness of the interview room and the forest , this creates a false sense of safety and keeps the audience on the edge of their seat .
We also used high key lighting in order to show our antagonist ,
The shinning uses high key lighting when Jack Torrance, the antagonist attempts to attack Wendy Torrance , this is unconventional as low key lighting is mostly used by horrors in order to create tension and high key lighting is not typically associated with horrors
Our police officer character is shrouded in mystery due to the darkness of the room this means the audience will want to learn more about him and how he is associated with the character of the attacker.
The actual logo of our film entitles 'The Ritual' , uses a cross in place of the 't' in 'Ritual' , this foreshadows what the film is about as our film is based on satanic cults and focuses on religion as one of the main selling points , this will intrigue the audience and want to make them watch more of the film
This shot of the ring is vital to our sequence as it establishes the shock ending to the opening sequence , the audience will then want to watch more of the film because of this as they will want to know the link between the ring , the police officer and the attacker

Succesful key points and points to improve on Opening Sequence
WWW
There were several instances in the shots we took that were successful. One aspect of the shots that was succesful is the use of lighting. The actor playing the police officer(Kevin) was in dark low key lighting throughout the whole of the shots , in a contradistinction Mary Shaw (Chanel) was mostly in darkness also however her costume allowed her to be shown more clearly and as a result this portrays her as a protagonist that is pure and inocent this means the audience gets a idea that Mary Shaw
is the protagonist and the male police character in complete darkness is the antagonist.

We need to use a variety of different shots in order to improve our opening sequence as at the moment it is very basic in terms of different shot types
